Flan is probably the best known (and loved) Mexican dessert. It can be a challenge for inexperienced cooks to make at home but average cooks should not have any difficulty.
You will need a flan mold to provide the traditional flan shape. The molds come in different sizes. You may use one large mold or several of the small "cupcake" style molds. A variety of molds are available at most major big-box stores or online.
The tricky task is to cook the sugar to a golden color without burning or under cooking. Then just a watchful eye on the baking process will yield a super yummy dessert.
