Churros Recipe
Ingredients:
* 8 ounces butter
* 5 cups water
* 2 teaspoons salt
* 1/2 cup granulated sugar
* 1/2 cup corn oil (for dough mix)
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 1 teaspoon nutmeg
* 5 cups all-purpose flour
* 8 eggs
* Additional corn oil, as needed (for frying churros)
* Cinnamon Sugar (recipe below)
Directions
1. Heat butter, water, salt, sugar, 1/2 cup oil, vanilla extract and nutmeg to a rolling boil. Stir in flour. Stir vigorously over low heat until mixture forms a ball (about one minute). Remove from heat.
2. Beat eggs into mixture until smooth. Allow dough to cool.
3. Place dough in a piping bag with a star tip.
4. In a large frying pan, add enough corn oil to give a 1 inch depth. Heat on medium setting.
5. Pipe the churros in long rods directly into the hot corn oil.
6. Fry until golden brown on all sides.
7. Remove to paper towels and allow to drain oil.
8. Dust with Cinnamon Sugar and serve
To make Cinnamon Sugar combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar with 1/2 cup ground cinnamon and stir well.
