Kahlua Recipe

Store bought kahlua can be very expensive. There seems to be only one brand and without competition I suppose they can charge whatever they want. Well, here's the answer. Make your own. Try the following recipe,. taste it and then adjust your next batch to fit your own taste. If you want it stronger or weaker or whatever, just adjust the amount of the ingredients.

Ingredients
* 2 cups Sugar
* 5 cups water
* 2 ounces instant coffee
* 1 bottle (5th) of vodka
* 1/2 pint dark rum
* 3 tablespoons vanilla

Directions
1. Mix Sugar and water in a sauce pan and bring to a boil on medium heat. Simmer, while stirring, for 30 minutes.
2. Add 2 ounces instant coffee, stir and simmer another 15 minutes.
3. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
4. Add vodka, rum and the vanilla. Mix well.
Note: Be sure the mixture is cool or some of the alcohol will cook off.
5. Poor back into original vodka bottle. You will have more than will fit back in the bottle, so you will have to...hummm, drink it now.
It will taste better if allowed to stand a few days. For a nice drink, mix 2/3 cup kahlua with 1/3 cup milk over ice. Also good mixed with hot coffee.
