Store bought kahlua can be very expensive. So, why not make your own. It is much less expensive and you can make it to fit your own taste.
Probably the most popular kahlua drink is simply kahlua poured over a couple of ice cubes with 1/4 cup of regular milk on top.
This recipe makes about 1 1/2 (1.75 liter) bottles of kahlua so you can use the empty vodka bottle and any other sealable glass or plastic container to store your kahlua. At our house we always have a couple of spare empty vodka bottles stashed away. Don't know who drinks all that vodka...maybe the dog?
NOTE: This recipe makes a potent kahlua. If you want it a little milder, omit the rum.
NOTE#2: Do not try to rush the process by pouring the vodka/rum into a hot sugar mix. You will risk evaporating the alcohol.
