Margarita purist may scoff at this recipe. It's not meant to be the classic margarita. It's just a simple, easy home made margarita. Especially good for crowds at parties since they can be made fast in large batches. Oh...and they are pretty good, too.
You should use a standard size (6-7 cup) blender capable of crushing ice, for this recipe.
Yield: 6-8 drinks, according to glass size
o 4-8 oz. Tequila (according to how strong you want them)
o 3 oz Triple Sec
o 1 can frozen lime juice concentrate
o 3 cans water (use the empty lime juice can)
o 4 tablespoons sugar
o 1 full tray of ice cubes
o salt as needed (for rim of glass)
o lime, sliced, as needed, for garnish
1. Salt the rim of margarita glasses and set aside.
2. In a blender combine all ingredients. Run blender on highest setting (or "ice crush" setting) until mix is a thick slush. There should not be any large ice chunks left in the mix.
3. Fill margarita glasses and place a slice of lime on the rim of each glass and serve immediately.
Note: If you have a thin, liquid mix instead of a slush, add additional ice and continue blending.
Note 2: The above measurements seem to suit the average taste. You may want to taste and adjust quantities as needed.
Note 3: Keep any left over mix in the freezer. It will get firm but will not freeze hard. Just stir with a spoon before serving.
