So what is Tex-Mex? It's what most people outside Mexico (in the U.S.) call "Mexican Food". It is an Americanized version of Mexican food. Using ingredients readily available in the United States, dishes have been created incorporating Mexican cuisine. Tex-Mex recipes originated in the Southwestern states of Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. California then added it's own special flair.
